Carly Pollock is an Account Director at Power Play Production Group and is a graduate of GBC’s Sport Event Marketing Post Graduate Program. Carly has over 7 years experience managing and executing hundreds of events across Canada. Seeing an event from inception through to execution is what Carly does best. Her passion and dedication has led her to execute events for several high-profile clients such as Hockey Canada, Maple Leafs Sports + Entertainment, Golf Canada and Canada Snowboard.
Carly’s advice to grads: "Recognize that the events industry is ever changing - continue to learn, take on challenges, invest in your relationships and build a strong network."
Born in Kingston, Jamaica Marsha-Gaye earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Mary in North Dakota and graduated with a BSc. in Social Sciences. Returning to Toronto Marsha-Gaye completed the Sport & Event Marketing program at George Brown College then her MSc. in Olympic Studies from the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece.
Marsha-Gaye has worked as a sport marketing professional for over 10 years with companies like Mosaic, Rogers and the NHL. Currently, she is a Partnership Marketing Manager with CBC Sports & Olympics. Marsha-Gaye started Black in Sport Business (BSB) an organization that aims to connect black professionals in sport business across Canada. Marsha-Gaye is also a part-time professor at George Brown College and Toronto Metropolitan University.
Marsha-Gaye's advice to grads: "It's not what you know, It's not who you know, it's who knows. you."
Zvi graduated from Sports and Event Marketing in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. After obtaining a Bachelors of Social Work in 2019, he decided to pivot careers towards sport after his time with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment as a Toronto Raptors Interactive Crew Member. Around that time he also started up the Raptors Insider, a Raptors social media brand meant to entertain and inform fans. He is currently a Brand Partnerships Coordinator with TSN Canada.
Zvi's advice to grads: "Really focus on growing your network as people are more willing to help a familiar face than you’d think. Experience is always a big thing, if no one will give you to opportunity to get some, look to create your own."
Sean is the Development Director of First Tee Canada, a youth development program offered through Golf Canada. A lifelong advocate for the power of sport, he's previously held roles at the Canadian Olympic Foundation working on Major Gifts and the Movember Foundation leading their Hockey Fights Cancer partnership with the NHL.
Sean's advice for grads: "Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and ask questions. We were all beginners at some point."
